Peer review process
La qualità scientifica degli articoli pubblicati è garantita da una procedura di peer review ad opera di qualificati referees anonimi. I referees (esperti revisori) sono sia interni che esterni alla rivista.
I contributi possono essere su invito o spontanei. Gli articoli su invito, scritti da esperti di sicuro prestigio o di fama internazionale, non sono soggetti al processo di referaggio e sono indicati come “invited articles” da una nota speciale. I contributi spontanei (saggi scientifici) verranno preliminarmente vagliati dal Direttore scientifico della Rivista, Prof. Dr. Michele Borrelli, per una prima valutazione della qualità scientifica e dei requisiti formali. Nel caso in cui il contributo non soddisfi tali elementi, gli autori saranno informati sui motivi della non accettazione del contributo. Se la valutazione preliminare è favorevole, i contributi saranno valutati secondo una procedura anonima di referaggio cosiddetto doppio cieco (double blind peer review) articolata nelle seguenti fasi:
- Si invia lo scritto ad anonimi referees, insieme ad un questionario per valutarne la qualità scientifica. Il Direttore scientifico della rivista sceglie gli esperti anonimi sulla base delle rispettive competenze e interessi di ricerca.
- I valutatori restano anonimi e all’Autore non sono rivelati i nomi. A garanzia dell’anonimato, la Redazione cancellerà i nomi degli autori dal testo del file, utilizzando stringhe varie (in bibliografia e nelle note) al posto del nome dell’autore. Nei documenti di Microsoft Office o equivalenti verranno, inoltre, rimossi gli elementi di identificazione presenti nelle proprietà del file.
- I valutatori devono fornire un giudizio da eccellente a molto scarso per ogni criterio stabilito per la pubblicazione (1. originalità; 2. pertinenza al contenuto; 3. valenza scientifica; 4. rigore; 5. argomentazione/stile). Dovranno essere considerati, inoltre, i seguenti aspetti: pertinenza della Bibliografia in relazione all’argomento esposto; adeguatezza della discussione e delle conclusioni. Il questionario per i valutatori comprende le seguenti possibili risposte: a, eccellente: da pubblicare; b, buono: necessita solo di piccoli aggiustamenti; c, lacune correggibili: da rivalutare per la pubblicazione; d, gravi e sostanziali lacune: da rigettare. A seguire: eventuali commenti e suggerimenti da inoltrare all’Autore.
- L’esito del questionario di valutazione redatto dai referees, favorevole o sfavorevole alla pubblicazione, con le eventuali modifiche suggerite, viene inviato all’Autore, in forma anonima.
- L’Autore a cui siano chieste modifiche nel suo articolo avrà un termine di 15 giorni per realizzarle. Il Direttore della Rivista formulerà il parere definitivo.
The scientific quality of published articles is assured by a peer-review process conducted by qualified anonymous referees. The expert referees are both internal and external to the journal.
The contributions can be sent on request or spontaneously.
The contributions on request to authors of sure prestige or international fame are not subject to the refereeing process and are shown as being “invited articles” by a special footnote. Spontaneous contributions submitted to the Journal (articles) will be preliminarily examined by the Scientific Director Prof. Dr. Michele Borrelli for a first evaluation of the scientific quality and the formal standards. In case the article does not meet the requirements, authors will be notified with a specification of the reasons why the article was not accepted. If the first judgment is positive, the contributions will take part in the anonymous “double blind” peer review procedure:
- The contribution, accompanied by a questionnaire to proof its scientific quality, is sent anonymously to anonymous referees. The Scientific Director of the Journal will choose anonymous referees on the base of their expertise.
- The evaluators remain anonymous and the author names are not revealed. To guarantee anonymity, the editors will delete the names of the authors of the text file, using various strings (in bibliography and notes) in place of the author’s name. In Microsoft Office documents or equivalent ones the identification elements present in the file properties will be also removed.
- The evaluators must provide a judgment from excellent to very poor for every criterion established for publication (1. originality; 2. relevance to the content; 3. scientific significance; 4. rigor; 5. argument/style). Moreover, the following issues should be considered: the relevance of bibliography in relation to the topic exposed; adequacy of discussion and conclusions. The questionnaire for assessors comprises the following possible answers: a, excellent: to be published; b, good: needs only small adjustments; c, from reevaluating correctable deficiencies for publication; d, serious and substantive gaps: by reject. Any comments and suggestions must be forwarded to the author.
- The outcome of assessment questionnaire drawn up by the referee, favorable or unfavorable to the publication, with the modifications suggested, is sent to the author, anonymously.
- The author is requested to send the revised version of the article within 15 days. Final acceptance or rejection rests with the Scientific Director of the Journal.
